With its legendary snow-capped mountains, Colorado can be a beautiful backdrop for a wedding. You'll find there are a plethora of resources available to engaged couples planning their weddings in Colorado, including musicians, florists, reception halls and more.

See What's Out There

Before you're ready to sign contracts, you'll want to get an idea of the different types of wedding services available. One way to do this is by attending bridal shows in the area where you plan to marry. This is a huge time saver for busy brides-to-be. Rather than rushing from florist, to caterer, to band and back again, you'll have them all assembled in one spot so you can compare and choose the one that best fits your requirements. Moreover, if you're a do-it-yourselfer who's planning to make favors, decorate the reception hall or take on other tasks, you'll be able to see how the pros do it and get some ideas for your own creations. To find Colorado bridal shows search online, watch for advertisements in the newspaper, or check with local bridal shops. A couple to try are the One Moment in Time show in Colorado Springs or the Rocky Mountain Bridal Show in Denver.

Find a Colorado Venue

The sooner you begin looking for a place to hold your Colorado wedding, the better selection you'll have. That said, even if your wedding day is approaching soon, with a little creativity you should be able to secure a great locale. Holding the ceremony on a Sunday or Friday evening rather than a Saturday can make finding a reception hall easier. Look at halls, restaurants, hotels, museums, libraries, golf clubs, historical mansions, beaches and picturesque parks to see if they can be rented for receptions.

Find Someone to Perform the Ceremony

For the devout, the religious leader at their house of worship is the obvious choice. Some religions require that the ceremony be performed at the house of worship, so if you're hoping to be wed outdoors with the majestic Colorado mountains as a backdrop, make sure that's an option. Those not affiliated with a religious community can be married by a justice of the peace or a judge, who can include religious references or leave them out according to the wishes of the bride and groom. Ask at local bridal shops, check wedding guides, ask for recommendations from acquaintances or search online to find a wedding officiant.
